- Yup. Amiga + Playstation + Saturn here, and let me tell you that is
- a SWEET combo. When you stop worrying about tweaking your Amiga out to
- keep up with the latest PC game fad, you really start to remember what
- a great machine the Ami is. I was a little worried when I got my consoles
- that I'd lose interest in my Ami. If anything, the oppsite happened. I
- really believe that games are the ONLY area the Ami has really been
- suffering in lately, through no direct fault of the system either. It's
- just that, until VERY recently, developers had a very dim view of the
- Amiga's future.
-
- With the promise of PPC 24 bit GFX and 16 bit audio in the not too
- distant horizon, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Amiga make a real
- comeback in the games industry, but it's also important that people not
- be blinded by the neverending quest for MHZ and frame rate that they
- forget the main thing that seperates the Amiga from, for example, the
- Saturn and Playstation. The Amiga is a computer first. The same
- specialized CPUs that make the consoles so great at games make them
- totally unuseable for practical computing applications. That's why I'll
- always rate the CD-32 as one of the top consoles of all time. Not
- because it could push around gaggles of textured/shaded polys in a
- heartbeat, but because it, more effectively than any previous attempt,
- combined the best elements of a low end home computer with a solid
- video game console. Credit that to the brillant design of the Amiga,
- which, of course, made the CD32 possible.
-
- Point is: There's nothing wrong with taking advantage of the
- relatively low cost of those 32-bit super consoles when it's obvious
- that the games being produced for them are really hot. Hey, when a
- hot Amiga title comes out, like EXtreme Racing, or Worms, or Gloom
- Deluxe, I buy it. Which brings me to my final point about the Amiga
- version of Worms being better than the Playstation version.
-
- The Playstation version of Worms may have hotter GFX, but, with
- the Amiga version, you can get into the level design, plus, T17 are
- going to be coming out with that Patch for the Amiga version soon.
- Besides, it's only fair to buy the Ami version, it starting out as a
- Blitz2 game and all. :)

- P.S. Andy. Don't be upset that I didn't mention AB3D in my little
- list of "hot" Amiga games. I'm just waiting for AB3D-II. What can
- I say. I've gotta have that 1x1 mode. I know. I'm spoiled. :)
